Kaamanen is known for it's birds​​. Pine Grosbeak, Siberian Jay, Siberian tit and willow grouse thrive in the area, as well as waterfowl and shorebirds . From February to the end of October visiting star is the Pine Grosbeak. In April, a quick visitor to snow buntings and brambling will spend the summer holidays Kaamanen. All season birds are the great tit, Greenfinch, Redpoll, Siberian jay, crow and magpie. In summer there is still a chance to see, Willow Warbler, the lake water birds and great spotted woodpecker. In the mole rich years visiting birds in the area are the mouse olw and the Short-eared Owl. You can also take seeds into the woods and sit quietly and wait for the small friends to appear.

Toivoniemi's Kaamasjoki bird-watching tower is probably the best place to observe birds in the Inari region. 12m high bird-watching tower has been built in a central location next to the bird nesting area, where you can see the whole of the mouth of the river and marsh birds .

The area has seen in more than 70 different species of birds.
